Arguably your funeral is the biggest collection of people you have known during your life and they have all come together from all corners of the planet because of you. How lovely and respectful.
So, what a pleasure and lasting memory to hear your voice, see your face and listen to your stories, memories, jokes, words of love – you are very much involved and your family and friends leave the occasion with your eulogy foremost in their minds. Is that not what it’s all about on your day? Giving love and peace of mind to your loved ones?
These are the thoughts I have often had when sitting uncomfortably in a Crematorium waiting for the coffin to be put in place by our professional and respectful funeral directors. No denying that your funeral is very sad and emotionally charged, overwhelmingly so, for your family and close friends. Whoever has been appointed to deliver the eulogy on the day it is particularly emotional and a nerve-wracking experience as you don’t want to let anybody down. I know, I have delivered one and it was very stressful, although I felt privileged to have been asked.
Precious Thoughts was born. I couldn’t get rid of the idea there has to be a more direct and personal way for the deceased to be involved. It’s a different concept I know and it’s not for everyone.
Think back to Covid, not many of us had heard of the unattended funeral. However during Covid it became normal to watch the beautiful way the funeral directors looked after the deceased in the crematoriums on the streaming system. Then the ashes were delivered to the loved ones. I know because this is what happened to my father in law. Nowadays the unattended, pre-paid cremation is very popular, understandably so due to the costs that can be involved. This is a personal choice for us all but imagine when your ashes turn up to your loved ones, a message via a QR code is also delivered on a little card so your loved ones can hear your spoken words with your deeply personal message to them. They can watch, listen, love and laugh as often as they want.
So, there we are, Precious Thoughts was born, developed and delivered with an overwhelming effort to make the service thoughtful, caring and giving clients what they want and need.
Warmest wishes,
Elaine x
