I have often thought that statement when waving goodbye to my 92 year old Mum, but I have thought that for the last 10 years and luckily she is still going strong – I am fortunate.
WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE – obvious but painful statement. There is absolutely nothing we can do about it. However, you can help your family/friends make the occasion less stressful and sad by simply talking about your death with someone you feel comfortable with. How you feel about it, what you want to take place.
As responsible adults when we get to a certain age or before if needed, we write our wills, POA, DNR who is having the dog/cat, jewellery, car, paintings etc. and then sit back feeling relieved and satisfied that we have taken responsibility and helped our families. Have we though……………………………? There is more you can do!
When we die, ordinarily there are two weeks before the final goodbye. So much for your loved ones to organise whilst coping with their grief:-
· How do I tell all the people who need to know
· What paperwork is needed
· What clothing to be worn by the deceased
· What music to be played at the funeral
· What kind of funeral
· What colour scheme for mourners
· What photographs to be used
· What kind of coffin required
· What do I do about stationery for the funeral
· Where do I hold the wake
· What do I do about the younger members of the family
· Who is going to say the Eulogy
· What will they say
· Where do I scatter the ashes
· What legacy do they want
The list goes on and on…………………… Help your loved ones NOW.
Horrendous is the only way to describe those two weeks. I know because I have done it.
Our fabulous local Independent Funeral Directors can only do so much, they need your help. The more you can leave in order, the better for all involved.
I am happy to lay it open what I have done and if it helps one person it is worth it.
· Will, POA, DNR, wish list, including the dog DONE
· End of life planner – completed with access to all things private DONE
· Eulogy/legacy, told by myself with video and audio DONE
· Final words and message for family DONE
· Funeral stationary chosen, apart from the end date! DONE
· Wake location, food and music DONE
· Funeral Director chosen DONE

Yes, it was emotional doing the above and I shed a tear but the peace of mind I have not its done is overwhelming.
I am just an ordinary woman building Precious Thoughts the best way I know. I am more than happy to have a chat with anyone the above has meant something to.
Much love, E x
